A video circulating on social media has been shared with a claim that it shows a Fulani boy being trained to “slaughter Christians” in Nigeria.

The video shows a young boy seated in a sandy, desert-like environment and holding a rifle. He briefly interacts with people off-camera before raising the weapon and firing a shot towards a tree.

The video was shared on X by an account, @@okanumeee27 with the caption: “Nigeria Fulani Islamic Jihadists Terrorists Children Are Now Learning How Kill Christians, While Some People Are Waiting For U.S To Come & Help Them In That Country Of Particular Concern Called Nigeria. Nobody Will Protect You Try & Defend Yourself. .”

As of 8 September 2026, the post had garnered over 40 reposts and more than 55 likes.

CLAIM

A video shows a Fulani boy in Nigeria being trained to “slaughter Christians.”

FINDINGS

Findings by The FactCheckHub show that the claim is UNPROVEN.

First, the video contains no identifiable feature establishing that it was recorded in Nigeria or that the boy is Fulani. There are no visible flags, signs, distinctive regional clothing or other geographical markers that establish its location.

A reverse-image search of keyframes did not produce credible results establishing that the footage originated in Nigeria.

The audio in the video also provides clues about the language being spoken. The speech does not appear to be in Hausa, or Fulfude English but in Arabic. The phrase heard after the shot reads “قسم بالله ولد… شاطر!”, which means “I swear to God, the boy… is skilful/smart!”

Although the footage appears to show a child being coached to fire a firearm at a target, there is no evidence in the video or the sources reviewed by The FactCheckHub that the boy was being trained to attack Christians. The religious and ethnic context attached to the video is therefore unsupported by the available evidence.

VERDICT

The claim that the video shows a Fulani boy in Nigeria being trained to “slaughter Christians.” While the footage appears to show a young boy receiving instructions while firing a firearm, the available evidence does not establish where the video was recorded, the identity or ethnicity of the boy, or that the activity was connected to attacks against Christians.
