THE FINDINGS

Findings by The FactCheckHub show that the claim is inaccurate and therfore MISLEADING.

The FactCheckHub subjected the keyframes in the video to Google Reverse Image search, and the results revealed that the video did not originate from Nigeria, but from Ghana, during a by-election held in Ablekuma North on July 11, 2025.

According to Ghanaian news outlet Joy News, the video showed the moment violence erupted at the Odorkor Methodist polling unit during the rerun election, when masked men stormed the venue to disrupt the process.

Multiple reports confirm that the election was marred by assaults, including attacks on political figures like former minister Mavis Hawa Koomson, and an incident involving a journalist who was assaulted by a police officer.

The Ghana Police Service confirmed the incident and stated that the officer involved had been interdicted and was facing disciplinary action.

Furthermore, keyword searches across credible Nigerian media platforms yielded no reports of a police officer killing a bus driver in Edo State on or around the date in question.

VERDICT

The claim that a police officer shot a bus driver in Edo State over a ₦200 bribe is MISLEADING. The video attached to the claim was traced to a violent incident in Ghana during a by-election in Ablekuma North, not Nigeria.
