A Facebook page, Progressive Nigerian Politics, has shared photos of malnourished persons, including children, with the claim that over 300 people were recently rescued from a house in Kaduna State.

The post, captioned as “BREAKING News!!!”, alleged that the victims were chained and subjected to abuse in the facility, claiming the discovery was made by police in Kaduna.

As of September 29, 2025, the post had generated several reactions and comments, with some users questioning why the story was not carried by mainstream Nigerian news outlets if true.

THE FINDINGS

Findings by The FactCheckHub show that the claim is MISLEADING.

A Google reverse image search on one of the photos shared by the Facebook page traced it back to 2019, when the incident was first reported.

At the time, the Nigerian Police raided a facility in Rigasa, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and discovered over 300 people chained in inhumane conditions.

The victims included children, and some were nationals from Burkina Faso, Mali, and other African countries.

Multiple credible news outlets, including BBC and Premium Times, reported the raid in September 2019. No credible evidence exists that such a rescue has occurred recently.

The viral Facebook post, therefore, recycles old photos and reports to give the impression of a new event.

VERDICT

The claim that over 300 people were recently rescued from a chained house in Kaduna is MISLEADING. The incident actually occurred in 2019.
