Vanessa Kerry says billions of people must die for the ‘new world order’.
THE FINDINGS
Findings by The FactCheckHub show that the claim is FALSE!
The FactCheckHub observed that the screenshot had a watermark which attributed the post to an X user @tpvsean. A check on the profile showed that the owner is the host of The People’s Voice, a news platform as stated on his bio.
Further checks also showed that the claim was posted by the user on April 4, 2024Â in a video discussing about Vanessa Kerry. The video post was captioned: “John Kerry’s Daughter Says BILLIONS of Humans Must Die for the ‘New World Order.’
Part of the footage transcribed below read:
The climate crisis is a health crisis and it’s killing us , the event of this year which is said to be the hottest on record have brought this painful truth into sharp focus. Wildfires in the U.S, Canada and Europe, record breaking temperatures around the world. Each climate driven event have left devastation, death and a long tale of health complications in its wake.
So the time for challenging our leaders, the time for challenging the status quo, the time for bold and decisive action by every single one of us in this room is now. Already upto 3.3 billion people in our world are highly vulnerable to the effects of climate change. The World Health Organisation estimates that one in four of the world’s deaths are from preventable environmental causes and climate change is further exacerbating these risks.
The People’s Voice also posted an article in relation to the video post on the same day as archived here.
Kerry spoke in multiple snippets in the 14-minute footage but none of them showed her mentioning billions of people must die for the ‘New World Order.’
The FactCheckHub observed that the video clips were taken from Kerry’s keynote speech at the COP28 event, “Reaching the Last Mile” Forum, held on December 3, 2023.
Delivering the speech, she did not call for the sacrifice of billions of people anywhere in the COP28 video or its transcript, rather she was talking about climate change.
Further checks show that the news was not published by any credible media house.
In October 2023, Reuters published a similar fact check about Vanessa Kerry’s father, John Kerry, allegedly saying billions of people be sacrificed to save the earth. The false claim was also attributed to The People’s Voice.
THE VERDICT
The claim that Vanessa Kerry says billions of people must die for the ‘new world order’ is FALSE; nowhere in the COP28 video clips did she mentioned that people must die.
