A VIDEO showing a suspect being questioned during a raid by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has been circulating on social media, with users claiming that a 45-year-old man named “Adeyemi” was arrested for allegedly producing counterfeit drinks in Lagos State.
The video was shared on X by user @felixherbt with the caption:
“JUST IN: Yesterday, a 45-year-old ‘Adeyemi’ was arrested for producing fake drinks to poison Nigerians at a trade fair market in Lagos State. These guys have killed more Nigerians than bandits have. Well done to NAFDAC”
As of 15 October 2026, the original X post had garnered more than 516,000 views, 3,500 likes, over 2,000 reposts and more than 1,000 comments. While some users agreed with the caption, others questioned its authenticity.
The claim also appeared in another post on X.
Given the post’s reach and the potential consequences of spreading inaccurate information about a criminal investigation, The FactCheckHub examined the claim.
CLAIM
A 45-year-old man named “Adeyemi” was arrested by NAFDAC for producing fake drinks at a trade fair market in Lagos State.

FINDINGS
Findings by The FactCheckHub show that the claim is FALSE regarding the suspect’s identity. The name audible in the interrogation video is Chibuzor, while media reports identify the suspect as Chibuzor Okafor, not Adeyemi.
On 13 October 2026, NAFDAC operatives raided an illegal production facility at Zamfara Plaza, within the BBA Trade Fair Complex in Lagos State.
During the operation, officials uncovered a facility allegedly involved in the mass production and packaging of counterfeit alcoholic beverages and wine. Two suspects were arrested, while the products seized and evacuated from the facility were valued at more than N2 billion.
In a statement published on its official Facebook page, NAFDAC provided details of the enforcement operation and the products uncovered at the facility.
To establish whether the viral post accurately identified one of the suspects, The FactCheckHub reviewed the video published by NAFDAC on Facebook.
In the footage, an official asks one of the suspects for his name. The suspect responds, “Chibuzor”, and the name is repeated during the exchange.
To further examine the dialogue, The FactCheckHub used TurboScribe, an audio transcription tool, to generate a transcript of the video.
The transcript captures the exchange:
“What’s your name again? Chibuzor. Speak to the camera… Chibuzor, Chibuzor.”
This supports the finding that the name audible in the interrogation is Chibuzor rather than Adeyemi.
Further checks found that Punch Healthwise reported on the raid in an article titled “NAFDAC uncovers fake drinks factory in Lagos, arrests two”.
Similarly, Vanguard, in its report on the operation, identified the two suspects as Chibuzor Okafor and William John.
The reports provide additional context about the enforcement operation and corroborate the identification of Chibuzor Okafor as one of the suspects arrested.
In addition, a video clip shared by Punch on X contains the interrogation exchange, in which the name Chibuzor can also be heard.
The available evidence therefore contradicts the viral post’s claim that the suspect was named Adeyemi.
However, the viral post also describes the suspect as 45 years old. The evidence reviewed for this fact-check did not independently establish his age.
VERDICT
The claim is FALSE. The suspect arrested by NAFDAC for producing fake drinks in Lagos is Chibuzor, not Adeyemi.
