A DISTURBING video showing a heavy shootout and armed men in civilian clothing engaging in a gun battle on an urban street has been circulating on social media, with claims that it shows an active terrorist invasion or an unchecked security breakdown in Nigeria.

The footage captures armed individuals firing assault weapons behind vehicles on a busy street, causing immense panic among nearby pedestrians and onlookers.

The caption attached, says: “I swear Nigeria done spoiled finish.”

FINDINGS

Findings by The FactCheckHub show that the claim is MISLEADING.

The intense gunshot captured in the video did not take place anywhere in Nigeria. A reverse image search done by The FactCheckHub on the footage reveals that it has a violent crime that occurred in Kinshasa, the capital city of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The video was originally published on March 31, 2026, by Live Bell TV, a Congolese media page on Facebook. The footage captures the daylight armed robbery that took place on Lalou Avenue, which left the residents of the Binza Delvaux neighborhood in the Ngaliema commune in deep shock.

The same video clip was also shared on March 31, 2026, by a Congolese Instagram account @Tune.cd, with a similar caption in French documenting the Delvaux neighborhood robbery.

A review of the visual elements in the video by The FactCheckHub confirms this location. In the background of the shootout, a large yellow and black commercial storefront sign is clearly visible, reading,”ENTREE TERRAIN DELVAUX”. This is a well-known transit and market landmark in Ngaliema, DRC.

The video has no connection to the Nigerian armed forces, banditry, or any recent security events within Nigeria.

VERDICT

The claim that the gunfight video depicts a security breakdown in Nigeria is misleading. The video captures a daylight armed robbery that took place on March 31, 2026, at Lalou Avenue in the Binza Delvaux neighborhood of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.
