AN X user, @Pharmacio001, has claimed that angry youths set fire to the Gombe residence of Nafiu Bala, a factional leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The post surfaced shortly after the Supreme Court in Abuja delivered a judgment regarding the long-running leadership crisis within the ADC, which restored David Mark as the party’s chairman pending the decision of the Federal High Court.
The post has generated over 1000 reposts and more than 4000 likes as of May 1, 2026.
CLAIM
Angry youths set fire to Nafiu Bala’s residence in Gombe on April 30, 2026, following a Supreme Court ruling.

FINDINGS
Findings by The FactCheckHub show that the claim is FALSE.
A reverse image search done by The FactCheckHub revealed that some of the images being circulated online to depict the incident are old and have nothing to do with Bala’s residence. For instance, one of the images showed a fire incident at Abubakar Tatan Ali Market in Bauchi State on the night of Thursday, March 5, 2026.

Furthermore, the Gombe State Police Command debunked the claim that Bala’s residence was attacked, stating that it is false information.
“The Gombe State Police Command wishes to categorically debunk the false information alleging that the house of Mr. Nafiu Bala was set ablaze in Gombe State,” part of the statement reads.
The Command confirms that the report is false, as no such incident has been recorded anywhere in the State.
Also, no credible local or national news outlets have reported any such arson attack or violence at the politician’s residence. Such an attack would have received immediate and widespread coverage from credible media organisations.
VERDICT
The claim that Nafiu Bala’s house was burnt by angry youths is FALSE. The images are unrelated, and the Gombe State Police Command confirmed that the news is FALSE.
