A VIRAL video shared by an X user, @Jack_ng01, purports to show a recent mass protest against Nigerian president Bola Tinubu’s administration, with protesters calling for a change of government.
The post made on 18 September 2026, addressed to Tinubu, reads:
“Dear @officialABAT Nigerians are genuinely tired of your Govt and there is no escape route for you sir Just rap up and hand over in the next few months for ADC Govt can make Nigeria affordable once again for ordinary Nigerians #BetterDaysAreComing”
As of 19 September, the post has generated over 53,000, 500 likes and more than 200 retweets.

CLAIM
A video shows a recent mass protest against president Bola Tinubu’s administration, with protesters demanding a change of government.
FINDINGS
Findings by The FactCheckHub show that the claim is MISLEADING.
A digital forensic analysis and reverse image search on keyframes of the video revealed that the footage is not recent.
The video has been circulating across social media platforms since at least June 2026. A search on Facebook showed that the footage was uploaded on 28 June 2026, by news pages including Nasarawa Daily News, as well as in public discussion groups. It was also posted here.
The FactCheckHub suspected that the video was taken during a mass protest held in Abuja earlier in June.
On 11 June 2026, social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, led a protest in Abuja over the worsening security situation in the country. Reports from the period show that protesters marched through parts of the Federal Capital Territory, chanting slogans including “Tinubu must go” and “APC must go.”
A video of the 11 June protest published by News Central TV also shows protesters chanting “APC must go” and “Tinubu must go”, matching the chant heard in the resurfaced footage.

The old footage has been recycled to falsely suggest that a nationwide protest against the federal government is currently taking place.
VERDICT
The claim that the video depicts a recent protest against Nigerian president Bola Tinubu’s government is MISLEADING. The footage has been online since at least June 2026 and is being recirculated out of context.
