CLAIM
A viral video shows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu delivering a recent address to citizens on the economy.

FINDINGS
Findings by The FactCheckHub show that the claim is MISLEADING.
The FactCheckHub verified the origin and context of the circulating broadcast clip and a review of official archives shows that Channels Television did not air a recent national address by President Tinubu on the economy.
A comparative analysis done reveals that the video is authentic footage from President Tinubu’s nationwide broadcast delivered on 31 July 2023. Cross-referencing the transcript and audio of the 2023 broadcast confirms that the spoken words in the circulating clip match the official July 2023 speech.
Furthermore, technical inspection shows that the clip was edited before being shared online. The creator added a third-party watermark reading “enitanbello” over the Channels Television logo, this is a text marker that does not appear in official Channels Television broadcasts, and accelerated the playback speed (e.g., 1.25x or 1.5x). to make the clip run faster, and affected the cadence in the clip.

VERDICT
The claim that the video shows a recent address by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the economy is MISLEADING. The video is authentic 2023 footage from Channels Television that has been edited with an added watermark, sped up, and shared out of context.
EDITOR’S NOTE: The headline has been updated to reflect that the video is old footage, not AI-generated content.
