A POST shared by verified X user @ChinasaNworu, purports to show members of Fulani communities carrying belongings and fleeing towns across Northern Nigeria due to rising insecurity.
The caption accompanying the post states:
“Just in! According to reports, many Fulani communities have being asked to leave many towns and communities in the northern Nigeria due to the insecurity caused by Fulani bandits, Fulani terrorist, and Fulani jihadist in the Northern region. Many Fulanis are accused of harboring and aiding their kinsmen who are seriously involved in criminality. Sooner or later many communities will turn against Fulanis not only the criminals, but also their peaceful relatives living in towns in villages. @radiobiafralive @NGRSenate @HouseNGR #divideNigerianow”

FINDINGS
Findings by The FactCheckHub show that the claim is UNPROVEN.
The FactCheckHub analysed the visual footage and the context of the claims shared in the post.
An examination of the image and the circulating media across social media platforms shows that the post does not provide a specific location, town or date for the alleged incident. The absence of identifiable geographic markers or verifiable metadata makes it difficult to establish the time and location of the footage, leaving the content without sufficient context.
Also, visual analysis of the individuals featured in the footage does not provide definitive evidence of their ethnic identity. Although some of the individuals are wearing hijabs, The FactCheckHub could not independently establish their ethnicity or the community they belong to based on the visuals alone. The post therefore makes a broad attribution of ethnic identity to the individuals without providing verifiable evidence to support the claim.
While insecurity has resulted in internal displacement in parts of Nigeria, The FactCheckHub found no credible news reports or official records supporting the claim that the individuals depicted in the image were fleeing their communities due to expulsion or displacement.
