THE FINDINGS

Checks by The FactCheckHub show that the claim is MISLEADING.

Findings revealed that the photo was old and taken out of context.

When subjected to Google Reverse Image, it was discovered that the photo was posted on X on April 8, 2024, by the official X handle of the Terrorism Research & Analysis Consortium, a group that provides ‘Comprehensive Compendiums of Information and Analyses of Terrorist Groups and Activities.’

The image has been online several weeks before Simon Ekpa's claim.

The caption on the image on the group’s X post read:

“Suspected Islamic State (#IS) #Armed Assault of Vehicle Belonging to Syrian Democratic Forces (#SDF/PKK), in #al-Alwa, #Hasakah Governorate, #Syria. Read more: https://trackingterrorism.org/chatter/is-arm

It indicated that the image was from an alleged terrorists’ assault on the Syrian military that happened in Syria and not in Nigeria as purported by Simon Ekpa.

Further checks show that there was no credible media platform that reported the purported recent clash between any pro-Biafra group and operatives of the Nigerian Army.
